Frequently Asked Questions:
Q:
What do I need to fertilize my lawn with and when is the
best time to do it?
A:
Go organic with Texas Tee for a slower release product that
can be applied with a spreader. Texas Tee is safe,
non-toxic and non burning. It contains no bio-solids
and can be used any time of year.
Q:
I am transplanting from pots to a flower bed. What can
I do to reduce shock?
A:
Rose-Glo 6-8-4 isn't just for roses! The middle number
is phosphate. An element that all plant root systems
need for healthy growth. The most common cause of
shock is the disturbance of nutrients in the soil. You
can pat down the root ball and sprinkle some in the hole for
best transplanting results.
Q:
I have aphids and spidermites in my garden. How do I
get rid of them?
A:
An unhealthy plant is a prime victim for insect infestation.
Protect your flowers and gardens with seaweed/fish emulsion
products. Boost plan immunity and productivity by
using a foliar spray every 4-6 weeks. For severe
insect problems try garlic spray every 10-14 days.
Q:
I have yellow spots in my lawn. Is it a fungus?
A:
Try pulling on the blades of grass a handful at a time.
If it breaks off in your hand you probably do have the most
common fungus called "brown patch." Spread about 1/2"
of compost and do a deep watering. Spray the area with
Medina soil activator every two weeks. The microbes in
the compost will help eliminate the brown patch and you
should see color from new growth in 6-8 weeks.
Q:
I hate using so many chemicals for weed control. What
are my options?
A:
Try "Black Jack 21", at 21% vinegar with an added
surfactant, this product is a non-selective application to
burn out the weeds. Spray in the heat of the day, in
direct sunlight, and you should see results in 24 hours.
Re-apply if necessary. Be sure to remove the weed
debris from your lawn within 4-5 days to prevent
re-establishment.
Q:
Will the sample I received from a supplier be an exact match
to the stone?
A:
Because samples represent a small area of the stone, they
can be indicative of general coloring, texture, and veining.
Stone is a product of nature and will vary, sometimes
greatly, from slab to slab and block to block. Two batches
of the same stone from the same quarry can look very
different. In order to obtain the best knowledge of what
your finished product will look like, always view current,
full slabs when making your material decision.
Q: Can I pick up material at your
location?
A: Yes, we are open to the
public. We will load all types of open trucks such as
pick-up trucks or flatbeds. Many customers take small
amounts such as bagged stone in their car trunks also.
Q: How can I pay for my order?
A: We accept MasterCard, Visa,
Discover, American Express, company or personal checks and
Cash.
Q: How much stone is a ton?
A: If it is loose gravel a
ton is a little less than a cubic yard. Palletized stone
such as Flagstone, Boulders, and Chopped are usually 1.5 to 2
tons per pallet.
Q: How do I know how much
stone I need?
A:
On our pricelist we have listed the coverage per ton of
most stone. However, contact us with the square footage of
the area you need to cover for your project and we will
calculate what you need
Q:
How much waste should I figure into my job?
A: Different stones have variable waste factors. Please
contact us for estimates.
Q: How do you handle delivery?
A: NBSS owns their own trucks.
We have different size trucks to fit your needs.
Q: What is the best way to seal
your stone?
A: There are many types of
sealers that will have varying effects on stone. Ask us for
specific information about finish and the end result of
sealing stone.
